HVCDP Region 2 held the graduation rites of some 500 farmers from 2023 School on the Air (SOA) on Lowland Vegetable Production class at the spacious Robinsons Place Mall in Tuguegarao. The farmer graduates in this year’s SOA in Cagayan Province come from selected towns such as Alcala, Piat, Peñablanca, Solana, and Sto. Niño.

This is the third batch of farmers to graduate as part of DA Alto 2 and HVCDP’s program to lowland vegetable farmers to enhance their knowledge, skills, and competence in innovative vegetable farming technologies through two months of focused learning utilizing an old communication technology – Radio, for a life-changing program to capacitate vegetable farmers. This enabling and sustainable initiative by HVCDP region 2 is in collaboration with DWPE radio station in Tuguegarao, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), the various participating and sponsoring seeds and fertilizer companies such as Enviro, East-West, & Ramgo.

RFO 2 OIC – RTD for Research and Regulations Kay S. Olivas, OIC- Regional Technical Director for Operations and Extension, Robert Busania, delivered their congratulatory messages, while Mr. Enrique G. Dela Cruz gave the key note speech on behalf of Director Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, Ph.D. of the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), BPI & NUPAP.
