The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 through its High Value Crops Development Program and Isabela Experiment Station had partnered with the Philippine Army on the planting of 126,000 fruit bearing trees nationwide last March 6, 2023.

The activity was undertaken during the 126th PA anniversary celebration in Camp Melchor dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela and in support to the “Raise to One Million Fruit Bearing Trees” by end of June 2028 under the national government’s twin-fold effort on food security and environmental protection agenda.

According to Ms. Carol P. Albay, Regional Coordinator, High Value Crops Development Program, the department contributed seedlings of 1,000 pieces Sweet Abulug Pommelo, 150 pieces of avocado and 150 pieces of jackfruit.

Some staff of DA IES participated in the tree planting activity that also highlighted the signing of Memorandum of Partnership (MOP) between PA and DA to ensure that enough seedlings will be provided.
