March 9, 2023 – The Department of Agriculture High-Value Crops Development Program (DA HVCDP) Director Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban Ph. D., together with DA Regional Executive Director Crispulo G. Bautista Jr., led the turn-over ceremony of the two (2) 10,000 bags-capacity onion cold storage facilities to the onion farmers of Caridad Sur Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Barangay Caridad Sur, Llanera and of Kalasag Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Barangay San Agustin, San Jose, Nueva Ecija.

The Establishment of these facilities worth ₱20,000,000 each, was funded by DA under the Bayanihan II Fund and HVCDP regular fund. These onion cold storages will help prolong the shelf life of onion and lessen the postharvest losses which in turn will help the farmers acquire adequate income.

Also present during the event, are Municipal Mayor of Llanera, Hon. Ronnie Roy G. Pascual and Municipal Mayor of San Jose, Hon. Mario O. Salvador who delivered their inspirational messages, HVCDP Regional Focal, Engr. AB P. David, HVCDP PMO Focal, Mr. Jose Jeffrey Rodriguez, City Agriculturist of Llanera, Mr. Loulex M. Corpuz and city agriculturist of San Jose, Mr. Francisco M. Dantes.
