The members of the Parish Pastoral Council of the Christ the King Parish in Tungao, Butuan City is now reaping the fruits of their labor.

Having partnered with the Department of Agriculture – Caraga, the Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council, and the Km. 7 Farmers Producers Cooperative (KFPC) for the Agrikultura ug Pangisda sa Parokya initiative, the Christ the King Parish started their vegetable gardening endeavor back in the month of May this year.

The Agrikultura ug Pangisda sa Parokya was initiated by the Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council (RAFC) headed by Chairperson Christopher H. Lindo in support to the Department of Agriculture’s thrust of attaining food sufficiency and security.

The initiative aims to engage parishes from around the region to optimize unutilized land and encourage their parishioners to engage in agri-fishery activities.

The DA – Caraga provided agri inputs including vegetable seeds, farm nets, plastic mulch, sprinklers, and organic fertilizers.

On the other hand, the Km. 7 Farmers Producers Cooperative (KFPC) provides technical assistance through trainings and also acts as the marketing arm of the Parish.

Last Friday, harvested vegetables from the Christ the King Parish vegetable garden were displayed at the Agro Trade Fair in celebration of the Parish Fiesta.
